RUC Workshop: Circular Economy Publication Marks Three-Year Anniversary at RUC

To mark the three-year anniversary of The Journal of Circular Economy, a group of researchers from both Denmark and abroad gathered at Roskilde University in June for a workshop on circular economy. The workshop not only celebrated the anniversary, but also marked the beginning of a new academic network for Danish researchers working in the field.
The idea for the workshop arose from Associate tt备用网址 Julian Kirchherr and PhD student Martin Ruvini, who recognized a lack of coordination and collaboration among researchers in the area. The two – both affiliated with the Department of Social Sciences and Business – decided to bring together researchers across disciplines and national borders to create a more cohesive and long-term network.
The goal of the workshop was to develop 10–15 concrete recommendations on how Denmark can establish and advance a circular economy. According to Julian Kirchherr, one of the core intentions was to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, allowing participants – who come from a wide range of backgrounds – to gain new perspectives on their research.
Beyond knowledge exchange and idea development, the purpose was to lay the foundation for a lasting research community focused on circular economy. In 2026, the researchers will be invited again, as the ambition is for the workshop and the network to grow – enabling continued dialogue and development within the field.
